On 18th Sep a delegation from our company including CEO Mr. Ahmed Shaban visited the Director General of GCPI (General Company for Ports of Iraq) in Basra Dr. Farhan Al Fartousi.
Al Zaman Group is working on Floating Dock project for the GCPI ,
The Director General of Iraqi Ports, Dr. Eng. Farhan Al-Fartousi, discussed with the delegation of Al-Zaman Company Group the floating dock project, one of the projects of the Japanese Loan Authority.
Dr. Al-Fartousi said, “According to the instructions of the Minister of Transport, Mr. Razzaq Muhaibis Al-Saadawi, it is necessary to work on developing the infrastructure of ports in cooperation with international organizations, including the Japanese International Cooperation Agency (JICA), and we have great cooperation with this organization in many important projects in ports.”
He added, “Today, we discussed the floating dock project with the delegation of Al-Zaman Company Group in the presence of the Japanese Loan Authority to facilitate obstacles and administrative matters to expedite construction and make the project a success.”
The Floating Dock project is a very strategic project for Iraq especially within the operation of Al Faw Grand Port and the Development Road that will connect Iraq to Europe. It will act as significant service point for the Marine Traffic in the Territorial water as well as adding value to the current government shipyard in Iraq by activating the maritime works and ship building/ repair in the area since the traffic will increase following the opening of the new port.
