The visit of the President of the Defence Industries Commission (DIC) H.E. Mr. Mustafa Ati, and the accompanying delegation to the Republic of Turkey on December 12, 2024. Site visits were conducted to several Turkish military factories to enhance cooperation and exchange expertise in various military fields, including the naval sector.
As part of the program’s activities, a visit to Ankara took place, where meetings were held with officials from the Turkish Ministry of Defense to strengthen military cooperation between the two countries and facilitate technology transfer, including in the military naval sector. During this, a meeting was held with the Chairman of Al-Zaman Group, Mr. Ahmed Shaban, as Al-Zaman Group has extensive experience in manufacturing military ships and frigates, including specialized and military shipbuilding projects in Turkey, in cooperation with the Turkish Ministry of Defence on specific projects. Among these projects is the successful transfer of expertise and technology from Turkey to Pakistan, enabling the construction of specialized military ships in Pakistan by training technical and administrative staff and managing teams with precision to deliver projects in record time. Al-Zaman Group looks forward to transferring these experiences to Iraq, as the company has a long-term partnership agreement with the DIC for maritime industry in Iraq.
On December 13, 2024, the delegation visited Istanbul and met with Rear Admiral Eldrinc, Commander of the Military Shipyard, at the Istanbul Naval Shipyard. The meeting was attended by VIP from the Turkish Ministry of Defense and Turkish companies working in the military naval sector. A field tour of the shipyard was conducted, showcasing the warships being built and the advanced capabilities available, such as the dry dock, slipways, giant cranes, workshops, and other facilities.
