H.E Iraq Prime Minister Mr. Mohammed Shiaa Al Sudani Visit to Czech Republic on
13th February 2025.
During the visit the Prime Minister was accompanied by several Iraqi Government and Iraqi Businessmen in which Mr. Ahmed Shaban, CEO of Al Zaman Group was invited to this trip. The visit to the Czech Republic has positive outcomes that was announced by H.E Prime Minister of Iraq.
Prime Minister Mohammed Shia Al-Sudani and his Czech counterpart, Petr Fiala, presided over the signing ceremony of an agreement and five memoranda of understanding in various fields as part of the official visit to the Czech capital, Prague.
The ceremony included the signing of an air transport agreement between the Iraqi and Czech aviation authorities and a memorandum of understanding between the Iraqi Ministry of Oil and the Czech Ministry of Industry and Trade.
Additionally, the event witnessed the signing of a draft memorandum of understanding between the interior ministries of Iraq and the Czech Republic, a cooperation memorandum between the Iraqi and Czech industrial federations, and another cooperation memorandum between the Iraqi and Czech chambers of commerce. Furthermore, a letter of intent was signed with the Iraqi Ministry of Environment.

- Iraq is ready to meet the Czech Republic’s crude oil needs, and a memorandum of understanding has been signed in this regard.

- The Development Road project was presented, emphasizing the necessity of Czech companies’ involvement in its implementation, whether through the railway, the highway, or the industrial cities to be established along the route. The Development Road is one of the most important economic corridors connecting Asia and Europe.
- Discussions are ongoing between the Iraqi Sovereign Guarantees Committee and the Czech Export Authority to strengthen cooperation in the industrial sector and localize modern technology manufacturing through the Iraqi private sector.
- A memorandum of understanding on security cooperation was signed, with directives to conclude a contract with the Czech Republic for the maintenance of Czech-origin Iraqi military equipment.
- Talks are underway between the Military Industrialization Authority and Czech companies to localize key industries in Iraq, with significant progress already made in this field.
- An invitation has been extended to Czech companies to enter the Iraqi market, which holds significant weight in the global energy sector.
A meeting took place between the Prime Minister and Mr Ahmed Shaban, during which they discussed the group’s completed projects, ongoing initiatives—including the Floating Dock 800TLC and the Boats Manufacturing Project in partnership with the Defence Industries Commission (DIC)—and future plans such as establishing a Shipyard in Basra for Maintenance, Repair, and New Shipbuilding. The discussion was highly productive and effective, with the Prime Minister expressing strong support for the private sector and partnerships with the government. He also commended the collaboration with the Military Industries Commission on the boat construction and assembly project.
