Al Zaman Group, member of the IBBC (Iraqi British Business Council) has participated in the IBBC annual Retreat at Cumberland Lodge in Windsor, United Kingdom.
On 23rd Sep 2024, reception and dinner was held at Cumberland lodge, where the former Iraqi President Dr. Barham Salih, Baroness Nickelson and IBBC members and guests have attended.
															At reception, a welcome speech was given by Baroness Nickelson. Following that, a speech was given by Mr Mike Durham, CEO of Cumberland lodge in which he mentions the royal history behind the building and educational activities for students on site.
A dinner was held following the reception, where Dr. Barham Salih, Former Iraqi President has given an inspiring speech about Iraq’s history and the relationship between UK and Iraq.
															
															On 24th Sep 2024, a conference was held at Cumberland Lodge conference building. His Excellency Mr Razaq Muhaibes Al Sadawi, Iraqi Minister of Transport and his accompanied delegation were invited to this conference. H.E Mr Razaq Muhaibes Al Sadawi opened the speech and talked about strategic Iraqi Projects including Al Faw Grand Port and the Development road that will connect the east to west through Iraq and will have great economic returns for the region in addition to other major projects in Iraq. During the session Q&A was engaged between H.E and the attendees including
MP. Zahrah Hamzah Ali Al-Salman, Chairwoman of the Transport and Communication Committee at the Iraqi Council of Representatives. Al Zaman Group CEO Mr. Ahmed Shaban has mentioned during the session about the Development of Iraqi ports and the group’s plan to establish Maritime Academy for educating human power as priority in line with such successful progress.

															Moreover, H.E has announced the establishment of the IBBC Iraqi Maritime Committee under the Chairmanship of Al Zaman Group. Also, a private meeting was held between Al Zaman Group representatives (Mr. Ahmed Shaban CEO of Al Zaman Group and Engineer Abdullah Shaban) and H.E Mr Razaq and Accompanied delegation in which we discussed the strategic project of the construction of shipyard city in the south of Iraq in partnership with GCPI for the manufacturing and repair of ships. Al Zaman Group has prepared a feasibility study for this proposal and is ready to invest the experience and transfer the technology and knowledge of shipbuilding to Iraq. In addition, Al Zaman Group mentioned about the developing an Accredited Academy for Maritime studies in Basra, supported by UK universities & educational source. Both ideas have gained the interest of the attendees and received positive result.
															
															Further sessions was held at the conference room. Speech and discussion was held about Education and scholarship opportunities in the UK for Iraqi students in the presence of Prof. Iain Gillespie, Principal and Vice Chancellor of University of Dundee.
